OC Jeff Tedford takes leave of absence from the Bucs

We may finally have an answer as to when Offensive Coordinator Jeff Tedford is expected to return: not any time soon. Tedford has taken a medical leave of absence from the Buccaneers following an medical procedure he underwent at the end of August. The medical procedure was later reported to have been to place two stents in an artery near his heart, per Ian Rapoport.

Tedford has been an inconsistent presence at One Buc Place since his surgery, and the timeline for his return has been ambiguous from the get-go. QB Coach Marcus Arroyo has been calling plays in Tedford’s stead. Tedford assisted the team from the box in both home games this season, but stayed home when the team traveled to Atlanta last week. He was not at practice on Monday, where Head Coach Lovie Smith reported Tedford’s “still got an extra day.”
