Head Coach Lovie Smith addressed the media Monday, revealing that OC Jeff Tedford underwent an unidentified “medical procedure” Monday morning.
“He’s resting comfortably right now, but he’ll be out for a short period of time,” Smith said. “We’ll of course keep Jeff in our prayers and all of that, things should be okay.”
While a timetable for Tedford’s return is unknown, Smith anticipates it will only be “for a short period of time.” The Buccaneers offensive staff will help fill the void left by Tedford while he is recovering.
“Our offensive staff will come together and do that,” Smith said. “This is how this thing goes. We have a coordinator, yes. From there, there’s always a backup plan.”
Tedford’s surgery comes at a time when controversial former Dolphin Richie Incognito is visiting One Buc Place. The Buccaneers offensive line has struggled this preseason and the organization is clearly looking to shore it up, despite the media circus that has come along with it.
