Lovie answers questions on starting QB, VJax trade rumors at Monday press conference

The Buccaneers are back at work this Monday following the team’s bye week. Notable events transpiring at One Buc Place this week include QB Josh McCown‘s (#12) presence at practice today and rumors surrounding WR Vincent Jackson‘s (#83) future with the Buccaneers.

As for who will be the starting quarterback this Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings, Head Coach Lovie Smith stated he will announce a decision on Wednesday and that guys often “let you know” in situations like this. Smith implied the decision had already been reached.

“There aren’t any tough decisions in it in the end,” he said.

Whether VJax will still be a Buccaneer on Sunday, one day before the trade deadline, was a little more vague. Smith said that teams are constantly reaching out to one another about players and that “we listen to what everyone has to say and we go from there.” However, he also said “We like our football team that we have now. We’re not trying to shop our players.” That seemed to somewhat quash the rumors that VJax’s time with the Buccaneers is limited, but only time will tell.

VJax himself was mum about the rumors when questioned by blogger JoeBucsFan, stating he had “no comment about that.”
